Installation - Grey Water Ready
Installation Requirements
The first step in installing a grey water recycling system is to separate the grey water (shower/bath/basin and laundry) from black water (toilet and kitchen).
Legislation is already in place in some states to separate grey and black water. Perpetual Water recommends making all new homes "grey water ready" as a way of future proofing the home against drought, water restrictions or water price increases. The Perpetual Water grey water ready product allows the home owner or developer to separate grey and black water while building and to add a grey water treatment system at a later date.
The following is a rough estimate of cost to make a home grey water ready:
New home: $1,500
Retrofit: $3,000 - $5,000 (note - retrofit is not possible with homes built on a slab where grey and black water is mixed within the slab. Please refer to the GardenAngel page.
Your plumber or architect can easily install the grey water ready system using the Provision of Grey Water Ready document attached. Download pdf
